HRH The Prince of Wales’ New Rainforest Video
Category: Uncategorized | Date: May 12 2009 | By: orangutanfoundation
HRH The Prince of Wales launched a global public awareness campaign last week to save rainforests.
The focal point of the campaign is this 90 second public awareness film in which HRH The Prince of Wales appears alongside his sons and an array of well-known faces including Harrison Ford, the Dalai Lama, Daniel Craig and Robin Williams.
Support for the cause can be demonstrated by the public by signing up on The Prince’s Rainforest Trust website http://www.rainforestsos.org/

I’m surprised that you’re excited by this considering that the Prince’s organic food line uses palm oil. It’s listed as “sustainable” but I wasn’t aware there were any sustainable sources of palm oil - yet.

You’re completely right Sheryl, this initiative is totally compromised to the point of worthlessness by the palm oil in his cookies.

Orangutan Foundation supports the work and aims of the Prince’s Rainforest Trust and it was for this reason that we decided to blog about the new film. We feel this initiative is a positive and important action to raise awareness about deforestation. It is important to see the bigger picture and The Prince’s Rainforest Trust is doing a lot of valuable work.
Just because we support the Prince’s Rainforest Trust doesn’t mean we condone the use of unsustainable palm oil.
Duchy Originals have stated that at most five out of their 200 products contain palm oil and they aim to reduce this or are moving to a sustainable source of palm oil.
Certified Sustainable Palm Oil (CSPO) has been available since November 2008 and there is some certified organic palm oil from Columbia. See WWF’s news item released yesterday - WWF To Grade Palm Oil Buyers -12 May 2009.

Oh yes, the World Wildlife Felons … the group that supports the Canadian seal slaughter, elephant culls, and agreed that China should have access to ivory stockpiles. Yes, they’re a reliable conservation organization - if you’re a hunter.
I’m afraid you’ve lost me on this one. It’s as if I were trying to raise awareness for veganism while eating a hamburger.
